WarEra Buddy
“Don't ask players what they want to do. Read their situation and tell them what to do today.”
The problem
WarEra is a browser strategy game with a real economy: companies, workers, wages, markets, regions with bonuses, and wars on top. Players make dozens of small money decisions every day, and most of them are guesses.
The game shows you numbers, but not what they mean for you: which company is quietly losing money, which worker costs more than they produce, where your damage is highest today.
So the idea was simple: don't make me work it out. Look at my account and tell me what to do.
What it does
- Daily briefing. One screen that says what needs doing today, and why.
- Eco mode. A company optimiser, market, hiring (with the offers worth posting), treasury, and a reality check that compares the model with the player's own last 7 days of trades.
- War mode. Where to fight today with your bonuses, a damage calculator that reproduces the battle screen, a build builder for the best build you can afford, and buy-vs-craft for gear.
- Any player. Search a name and Buddy analyses them from live game data.
How it's built
Every number comes from the live game. Buddy reads the official game API, stores what it needs, and models the economy from there.
Every formula is checked against the game and registered with a confidence level, so when it's not sure, it says so instead of guessing.
305 automated tests keep the maths honest as the game changes. It's written in Python and runs 24/7 on my own machine behind a Cloudflare tunnel, with health checks that alert my phone if anything goes down.
